Simple Kid

Pete and me went off to a new London venue on Weds 29th, The Old Blue Last, to see a new band, Simple Kid.

First off, the venue. I really liked the Old Blue Last. It's a massive old boozer in east London and the gig venue bit is upstairs. Holds about 100 people so all feels pretty cool and exclusive. We'll def be going back here soon.

As for SK, he was ok. He used his laptop well for all the backing tracks, drums, synths, etc and think projecting the screen shot up on to a big screen was a neat idea....if only to see when the noise you were listening too would actually end!

Couple of tracks stood out but would really like to see him again with a full band.

I'm going a tight 4/10 on this one.

Hmm

Thanks for your e-mail of kind comments Phil - agree everything re the venue, though suggest the way forward is thrashing indie guitar bands rather than pikeys - the second song about Staring at the Sun - is gonna be a smooth summer classic - the rest was a bit zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz 4/10 from me as well 3 for the venue and 1 for that song
