Arctic Monkeys, Lancashire CCC, Manchester
Just back from the gig in Manchester which is a clear contender for 'most northern gig' of the year awards.
First time I'd been to a gig at a cricket ground so was interested to see what the format would be like. In a word, pretty shit. It was a massive space to fill and, as you can see from the video, we couldn't be arsed to go down the front but the sound system was too low. They were clearly thrashing the arse out the amps as the sound went completely in the middle of a song and was off for about 3 minutes. "You're not singing anymore" was the chant from the crowd. Poor.
Fights for beer which ended up with the stewards being to to sod off by the police and them controlling the queues. What a joke. The venue overall was poorly run and should stick to cricket. 3/10.
So, anyway, we went to see the Arctic and there were pretty good. Good set with all the top tunes played through. Opening number was Fluorescent Adolescent - video below as requested by KH, this one's for you. Loads more videos will get added here or go to http://www.youtube.com/eppingphil
Overall, top night, good hotel and plenty of beers. Shame Jim and Dave missed it but me, Pete, Mark and Sunni had a top time. It's not that grime up north after all but only 7/10 from me.

aup, my mate went and he sed that near him was a man wearing a Bo'Selector mask, and he stood on someones shoulders and the lead singer stoped in the middle of the song and stated laughing...lol i was just wonderin how much truth there was is this.. email me simo_4@hotmail.co.uk
I was there on the Sunday as Mr.Allen knows. Excellent gig. Bit too long of a wait after Supergrass and took ages to get beers but worth it in the end.. They were so good! To Simo_4 Dont know about Bo'Selector mask but a guy stripped naked in front of us...Interesting ;o)
