2006 Awards - Its that time again
Here goes thoughts from me:-
1. Best Gig Organiser - Phil - you Artic Monkey you!!!!
2. Best Gigs - Artic Monkeys followed very closely by Faithless - with Boy Kill Boy a close 3rd - though really looking forward to Kasabian
3. Biggest Disappointment - No Somerset House summer series
4. The Mark House I need a diary award to make sure I actually turn up to some gigs - Mark House
5. How did we miss that one? - The Electric Proms - 2007?
6. Gigs for 2007? - Some newies, Doves, Water Rats, Somerset House, Chemicals, Weller again, Foreign trip, Gorillaz and a couple of dancies for me - is next year the last big gig year?
7. Best Ladee awards - Clapham Common - dance day - bonde hair, shorts, boots, hats x500 - ohhhhh yeah
8. I wish I hadn't sent that text award - Me - anyone for Girls Aloud
9. Must go there again - Islington Acamedy

Nice selection Peter, here's mine.
1. Best Gigs - Ditto Pete - Artic Monkeys were amazing at The Forum and Faithless were the fucking don at The Bush. I LOVE SMALL VENUES!!
2. Biggest Disappointment - missing out on The Killers
3. The "I'm a Lady me, I don't drink alcohol anymore, just coffee or earl grey" Award: Mark House
4. Gigs for 2007? - Captain, Fratellis, Somerset House, Electric proms, Chemicals, Weller, Gorillaz, Underworld
5. Best Ladee awards - Got to say.... The Ordinary Girls - you know who you are!!!!!
6. Best Venue: Brixton Academy
7. Best New Venue: Islington Academy
8. Best Live song seen this year: Very tough call but I think Insomnia @ The Bush just pips Fake Tales of San Fransisco by a whisker. I've got Insomnia on video which I'll upload when Housey sorts it out!!
9. Most overused but still funny gig noise: Aiiiieeeee!
What top selections. Here goes the Earl Grey Drinking club picks:
1. Best Gig - Faithless
Rocking from start to finish, not one bad tune and a full to the rafters Bush beating with one heart.
2. Best location - the Bush
Perhaps it was Faithless, but this place really has everyone up close and personal. For the first year, I think Brixton has slightly lost it's way and as for Wembley ....
3. Most over-rated - Razorshite
Borrell pranced, boxes were ticked and Wembley stood still. Shocking.
4. Best Surprise - Kubb
Another red-hot gig at the Bush where apart from silly tart who had brought her daughter and asked us to keep the aiiiyeeees down, the music and crowd were on top form. Harry Collier has a phenomenal voice and should be on our 2007 list. We also had the bonus of seeing Jynxt - awesome!
6. Top gig moment - Faithless
Can you believe they kicked off with insomnia? I and 2000 others couldn't either and it was MAGIC!!
7. Best outdoor location - the Arena di Verona
Can you believe that a 2000 year old venue still rocks today? You can still feel the roar of the crowds that watched gladiators duel and if bands start playing, I'm there.
8. Best organiser - Phil
Without a shadow of a doubt, taking more votes than Zara, Phil is this years Gigsman of the Year.
9. Special award for effort - Neil
Mummys brave soldier managed to turn up at not one, but two with crutches just days following his major knee op. What a leg-end.

For me, I want to see:

Captain
The Killers
Kubb
Doves
Foreign Trip
New Order
Billy Idol
Anything at Somerset House
And if anyone continues this "it's our last year", there'll be trouble!!
